Two virtual gatherings begin our journey before we ever arrive in Alaska. We'll meet our fellow travelers, prepare for wilderness travel, and explore the themes of An Altar in the World that will quietly accompany us throughout the week.
We'll begin with a simple practice: paying attention.
Arrive in Anchorage and settle into our welcoming hotel. We'll gather for introductions, intentions, and a celebratory dinner before beginning our journey into the wild.
Our journey begins from above with a dramatic flightseeing experience over Denali and the vast Alaskan landscape. From above, Alaska’s immense mountains, glaciers, and valleys remind us how small we are within this vast living world. Yet small does not mean insignificant.
An Altar in the World invites us to become more awake to the physical experience of being alive—to feel, notice, and pay attention to where we are. Perhaps seeing ourselves against something so immense doesn't make us feel smaller, but more fully here.
Travel south to Seward before leaving roads and schedules behind.
Our guided three-day kayaking expedition carries us into the quiet waters of Resurrection Bay, where we'll paddle beneath towering mountains, watch for whales, sea otters, seals, and eagles, and spend our evenings in simple, remote wilderness cabins.
Away from connectivity and the pace of everyday life, we awaken to the real physical presence of being alive while savoring the deep quiet of time alone beneath the stars.
Here, the unfamiliar may become an invitation—not to control what happens, but to notice what emerges when we make space for it.
Nestled between the Kenai Mountains and Resurrection Bay, Seward becomes our gentle re-entry from wilderness to community.
We'll hike Alaska's breathtaking coastal trails, gather in conversation, and enjoy this welcoming harbor town. Those seeking more adventure may choose a guided Exit Glacier ice hike or Kenai Fjords wildlife cruise, while others can explore Seward at a slower pace.
As we cross this threshold, we'll begin to notice what has changed—not simply in what we've seen, but in how we're seeing.
Return to Anchorage for a final evening together. We'll gather for conversation, ceremony, and a celebratory meal as we reflect on what we've encountered and what we want to carry into ordinary life.
For many, today is a heartfelt farewell.
Or extend your journey with an optional fly-out excursion to Redoubt Bay, where black and brown bears gather along salmon-filled streams. Encountering something bigger than ourselves, we’re reminded we can’t always control the outcome. As visitors, we wait, watch, and respect their own wild rhythm of life.
Whether you depart today or stay for this final adventure, we leave with an invitation to keep listening—to the beauty, discomfort, relationships, and ordinary moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
What are you noticing now?
Several weeks after returning home, we'll gather online to reconnect, share what has stayed with us, and reflect on what we see differently.
The journey doesn't end when we leave Alaska. Perhaps the deepest gift is learning to recognize the sacred when we return to ordinary life.
And our Honest Heart Community is designed for you to continue to connect online with trip sisters around continued curiosity and growth that deeply connects you!
